Whether you do your nails by yourself or in a salon, you may run out of equipment during your treatment. This can happen to anyone, of course, but finding an adequate replacement for the missing product is essential.
For example, let’s say you’re in the process of doing a nail, you take the nail glue, but the bottle is empty. Now what? What can I use instead of nail glue?
Keep reading, and we will help you find an adequate replacement for nail glue, how to use it, and many more interesting facts.
Substitutes For Nail Glue
When you run out of such a product, it is important not to panic and find a suitable replacement. After researching, we came up with three possible substitutes for nail glue.
They are double-sided tape, clear polish and base coat combined with white glue.
Let’s start with double-sided tape.
Just to be clear, we are not talking about a regular double-sided tape that you use for gift wrapping, etc. There is a thing called – beauty tape – made for these occasions.
Now, let’s get down to work.
- You can use nail tabs if you want a more durable hold. We are mentioning this because some fake nails come with these tabs instead of adhesives.
- Pick up your beauty tape. Don’t be afraid because this tape is made for sticking between some fabric and skin. So, this will not necessarily damage your nails.
- Cut the beauty tape to fit your nails. Save time and cut two layers at the same time.
- After you have done this, clean and prepare your nails, remove any nail polish residue, wash and dry your nails.
- Peel the backing off one side of the beauty tape and stick it to your fingernail. Do one nail at a time.
- Remove the backing from the top side.
- After you have done this with all five nails of one hand, start applying the fake nails. The tape will work immediately, so you don’t have to wait.
- Repeat the process with the second hand.
You can also try adhering with clear polish. How do you do that?
- Of course, the first thing you should do is to prepare your natural nails by washing your hands and spraying them with dehydrator spray.
- Pick up your toneless nail polish and paint the back of the fake nail with it.
- Let the nail polish on the fake nail dry for about 45 seconds.
- After it is dried, press the fake nail to your natural nail and hold it like that for 60 seconds.
- Repeat this process for all ten nails.
Last but not least, you can do this with a base coat and white glue.
- Prepare your nails by washing them and wiping them with nail polish remover.
- Pick up a base coat and paint your nail. The base coat is toneless in most cases.
- Don’t wait too long before applying one coat of white glue. Don’t let the base coat dry.
- Pick up the fake nail, press it to your natural nail and wait for 60 seconds.
- It would be best if you let your nails dry completely for about 5 minutes.
What About Super Glue?
- Did anyone mention doing nails with the help of super glue? Should you do this when you run out of plain nail glue?
- No.
- Super glue is by no means intended for things like this because it can damage your natural nail and cause breakage.
- Super glue should be intended only for minimal nail repairs, but it should never come in contact with your natural nail.
- If, by any chance, you messed up, though, there is a way to reduce the damage.
- Help your nails by dipping them in warm water mixed with dish soap.
Dermatologist’s Advice
Of course, we all like to have beautiful nails all the time. But going to salons too often can damage your natural nails.
Find a balance between going to a nail salon and nurturing your natural nails.
Dermatologists advise the following measures:
- Opt for soak-off rather than acrylic nails – gel nails are a better solution because they are way more flexible and easy to remove.
- Opt for salons with LED rather than UV light – Led lights are much safer in terms of radiation.
- Skip cuticle trimming if you can – although cuticles are supposed to be trimmed every time you get a nail treatment, they are the ones that protect your nails from a skin infection. If you cut them too much, they are more prone to bacteria.
Healthy Food Equals Healthy Nails
You don’t necessarily have to go to the stores and buy all kinds of products to put on your nails. You can do it the easy way – eating your way to healthy nails.
Some of the most common food you consume can help your nails stay strong and healthy.
So, let’s dig in.
- Eggs: they are a great source of protein, vitamin A and they contain plenty of biotins.
- Almonds: they are also a great source of biotin – cooked, roasted, or raw.
- Cauliflower: one cup of raw cauliflower contains 4 mcg of biotin.
- Cheese: you can never have enough cheese, and it is excellent for your nails.
- Mushrooms: this food is an excellent source of potassium, and they contain vitamin B.
- Sweet potatoes: potatoes are excellent food for strengthening your nails, and they also contain a fair amount of biotin.
- Spinach: a cup of boiled spinach contains 0.4 mcg of biotin.
- Chia seeds: chia seeds are good for your nails because they contain fiber and protein.
What Can I Use Instead Of Nail Glue – Conclusion
Sometimes it happens that during the treatment, the work material runs out. In such situations, it is important not to panic but to find a suitable replacement.
For example, if you run out of nail glue at one point, how would you solve this problem?
Easy, you can do this by using double-sided beauty tape, nail polish, or base coat with white glue.
All three ways are more or less the same. With double-sided beauty tape, you can also use nail tabs for a more durable hold, and you should carefully cut the beauty tape to fit your fingers. With nail polish and a combination of base coat and white glue, you might have to be a bit more patient and wait for it dry after putting it on your nails.
Many have questioned whether we can use super glue in situations like this. The answer is no. Super glue is by no means intended for your nails. And if some use it for minor repairs, it should never be used instead of ordinary nail glue. If you mess up, fix it by soaking your nails in warm water mixed with dish soap and keeping them inside for a few minutes.
For those who do their nails regularly, dermatologists advise to choose soak-off nails rather than acrylics, go to salons that use LED lamps instead of UV, and skip cuticle trimming if possible.
Lastly, you don’t need to buy all kinds of products. You can just consume healthy foods like eggs, almonds, chia seeds, cheese, and many more. There are a great source of vitamins and can help your nails stay strong and healthy.
